"The following week I shot a shy, soft-spoken singer named Jimi Hendrix poolside at a West Hollywood motel during one of Peter's interviews. He had just come back from making a splash in London, but he was unknown here. An upcoming performance at the Shrine Auditorium downtown was to be his West Coast debut.
As Peter asked questions, I rested my elbows on the table to steady my camera, and shot a frame each time Jimi reacted or responded. Periodically he would glance at me across the round table and smile, which gave me some lovely informal portraits."
